Radio Station Suspends Hosts Who Called Whitney Houston a ‘Crack Ho’

The hosts of The John and Ken Show, one of the most popular in the Los Angeles area, were suspended Thursday after one of them called Whitney Houston a “crack ho.”

KFI-AM 640, a Clear Channel radio station, said the pair — John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou — “have been suspended for making insensitive and inappropriate comments about the late Whitney Houston.”

The station said the two will return to the airwaves Monday. Executives did not say what will air instead of the two hosts on Thursday and Friday during their 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. slot.

Management at KFI also didn’t say specifically what they objected to, though Kobylt referred to Houston in a recent show as a “crack ho.”

The talk-show hosts issued a statement Thursday at the KFI Web site that says: “We made a mistake, and we accept the station’s decision. We used language that was inappropriate, and we sincerely apologize to our listeners and to the family of Ms. Houston.”

Kobylt’s offensive commentary was featured during the pair’s Tuesday show.

“All her friends and hangers on,” he said, “had to deal with her. It’s like, ‘ah, Jesus, here comes the crack ho again. What’s she gonna do? Oh, look at that, she’s doing handstands next to the pool. Very good, crack ho. nice.’ After a while, everybody’s exhausted. And then you find out she’s dead.”
