Former BBC Executive Myleeta Aga to Join Netflix as Content Lead for Southeast Asia, Australia
The veteran executive spearheaded Indian remakes of BBC shows such as 'The Office' and 'Criminal Justice.'
Former BBC executive Myleeta Aga will be joining Netflix as content lead for Southeast Asia and Australia, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Aga spent over a decade at the BBC and was most recently senior vp and general manager for Southeast Asia and India. Her various credits include Indian remakes of hit BBC shows including The Office and Criminal Justice, which are both streaming on Disney-owned Star India network's digital platform Hotstar. Aga started her career with Indian media company UTV, which was later acquired by Disney. Prior to joining the BBC, she was executive producer at the Travel Channel, where she worked on Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.
Aga had recently exited the BBC when the company said it had brought its Asia, Australia and New Zealand regions under a newly created Asia-Pacific (APAC) regional unit headed by Jon Penn, formerly managing director for Australia and New Zealand of BBC Studios.
While Netflix has not issued a statement about Aga's appointment, she is expected to join the video giant toward the end of the year and will be based in Singapore.
