MyNet gets NFL Net 'Access'


MyNetworkTV has inked an exclusive deal with NFL Network to bring a new, original pro football series to Saturday nights titled "NFL Network: Total Access."

The show, hosted by Rich Eisen and former NFL stars Marshall Faulk and Rod Woodson, will preview the upcoming games and feature segments from NFL Network's top shows, interviews with players and coaches and game highlights.

The hourlong show is set to premiere on MyNet at 9 p.m. Sept. 8 and continue airing on Saturday nights through Feb. 23 (with the exception of Dec. 15, 22 and 29 because of live games on NFL Network and Jan. 5 and 12 during the first two rounds of the NFL playoffs). A total of 20 episodes are set to air this season.

"When the conversations started about a Saturday showcase that was produced for us by the NFL Network, we got very excited because, historically, alliances with the NFL have been network game changers," said MyNet president Greg Meidel, pointing to sister network Fox as an example. "This is a high-profile program for our stations, advertisers and viewers."

NFL Network, which is available in about 44 million homes, also airs a program titled "Total Access" with Eisen, Faulk, Woodson and others, but MyNet's series will be original and exclusive to the network.

MyNet originally had planned to air an encore of Monday night series "IFL Battleground" from 8-10 p.m. Saturdays. Meidel said that show will be edited to an hour to make way for the football series. He added that 9 p.m. Saturdays is a perfect time period for the new show.

"It will be the official telecast of what is happening in pro football as you get ready for the big day on Sunday and what transpires on 'Monday Night Football' on ESPN and on NFL Network's telecast on Thursdays," Meidel said. "This really is one-stop shopping for an NFL fan."
