Myriad to 'Drive the Night'

Bill Bennett's horror film to begin lensing this summer

NEW YORK -- Myriad Pictures will produce and finance Bill Bennett's horror flick "Drive the Night."

The film trails a couple lost in the Australian outback who end up in a supernatural fight for their lives. Bennett, who will produce along with horror vets Jorge Saralegui and Silvana Milat, will begin shooting on location in Australia this summer.

Myriad is bringing the project to comic book publisher Studio 407 as part of their recently announced development deal. The production co. is also in talks with CGI outfit Fuel to join the project as a financing partner. Casting is now under way.

The executive producers are Kirk D'Amico and Richard Sheffield of Myriad, which will be repping the film for worldwide sales at next week's Festival de Cannes. Bennett's 1986 crime drama "Backlash" was an official selection in the fest's Un Certain Regard section, and his 1997 thriller "Kiss or Kill" won best film in Australia's equivalent of the Oscars.
