Oscar winners Nat Faxon and Jim Rash are set to direct Batso and the Wall, a film about legendary American rock climber Warren "Batso" Harding, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Mark Roberts and Ross Jacobson’s 3311 Productions is financing and producing the project. Faxon and Rash won the Academy Award for best adapted screenplay in 2012 for Alexander Payne's The Descendants, starring George Clooney and Shailene Woodley.

The duo made their directorial debut with 2013's The Way Way Back, starring Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell and Toni Collette, which they also wrote, executive produced and co-starred in.

Batso and the Wall will recount the true story of Harding, who gained renown for making the first conquest of El Capitan, a stark granite wall rising skywards in Yosemite National Park in California, in 1958. He died in 2002.

The script for Batso and the Wall was penned by Eamon O’Sullivan.

On the acting side, Faxon starred opposite Dakota Johnson on the Fox comedy Ben and Kate and opposite Judy Greer on the FX comedy Married. Rash is best known for playing Dean Pelton on the NBC/Yahoo! Screen comedy Community.

Faxon and Rash are repped by CAA. Faxon is managed by Principato-Young and Rash by Primary Wave.
