National Board of Review to award grants
Student filmmakers to get $75,000
The National Board of Review will award $75,000 to student filmmakers at ten schools in the New York tri-state area this year. Grants ranging from $3,000 to $11,500 will be issued to the School of Visual Arts, Ghetto Film School, Columbia, NYU and others, then distributed to undergrad and grad student filmmakers with the best shorts chosen by the NBR Student Grant Committee. NBR also awarded the Charlie Andrews Award for Film History to two Wesleyan students, the inaugural Marion Carter Green Award to an NYU student and $3,000 to the Children's Aid Society for film and video equipment.
