NBC Aquires Procedural 'Crossing Lines' for Summer Schedule
The Donald Sutherland starrer is the latest international acquisition to come from the broadcast networks, and will join Peacock original "Camp" as the off months' scripted offerings.
NBC has picked up U.S. broadcast rights to Crossing Lines a one-hour action crime series from Criminal Minds producers Bernero Productions and Munich-based Tandem Communications (The Pillars of the Earth) which stars William Fichtner, Donald Sutherland and Marc Lavoine.
The procedural will join previously ordered drama Camp on NBC's summer schedule.
Crossing Lines, which also stars Gabriella Pession, Tom Wlaschiha, Moon Dailly and Richard Flood, is a cross-boarder crime drama in which a special unit of criminal investigators working with the International Criminal Court hunt down global criminals and bring them to justice.
“We’re making scripted projects a priority for our summer lineup, and this is a great fit,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.
TF1 Production, the production arm of the French TV network, is co-producing the series.
Edward Allen Bernero and Tandem president Rola Bauer co-created and developed Crossing Lines and serve as executive producers on the series.
“Fans of procedural crime shows will feel very much at home with Crossing Lines and adopt its team of characters as their new family,” said Bernero, whose credits include executive producer on NBC's long-running Third Watch. “I couldn't be more pleased to come home to NBC, which recognized the show's potential.”
The show marks Tandem's entry into the one-hour series business. The show has already been picked up by a number of international broadcasters, including Sat.1 in Germany and Italy's RAI.
NBC's other scripted effort for the summer, Camp, comes from Deception's Liz Heldens and Peter Elkoff. The two series join CBS original Under the Dome and ABC Canadian acquisition Motive on the off months lineup.
Last summer NBC ordered Canadian drama Saving Hope but canceled it after it brought in low ratings.
Bernero is repped by CAA and counseled by Tom Hoberman, who also reps Tandem with Randolph M. Paul.
