NBC organizes 'Community'

Network picks up comedy pilot from scribe Dan Harmon

NBC has picked up another comedy pilot.

"Community," from Sony TV and Krasnoff Foster Entertainment, is described as "Stripes" set in a community college, a reference to the 1981 movie starring Bill Murray as a quick-witted loser who joins the Army as a practical joke.

Dan Harmon ("The Sarah Silverman Program") penned the script and is exec producing with former Sony TV programming chief-turned-producer Krasnoff.

"Community" marks the first pilot from an outside supplier picked by NBC after its December merger with sister studio Universal Media Studios. It comes several weeks after NBC pulled the plug on another Sony TV-produced pilot, drama "Lost in the '80s."
