NBC Uni exec Damiano sets retirement


NEW YORK -- NBC Universal said Wednesday that executive vp affiliate relations John Damiano will retire after 38 years at the company.

His retirement date is June 1. A replacement will be named soon, company executives said.

Damiano has been in his current job since August 1995. He also has been vp NBC Research, senior vp affiliate relations as well as a vp affiliate services and network services, affiliate marketing and affiliate relations operations. He started his career at NBC in 1969 as an information analyst after he graduated from Manhattan College. He also was a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve.

"He's been a terrific executive who has left his mark on the company," NBC Universal president and CEO Jeff Zucker said.

Added NBC Uni Television Stations and Network Operations president Jay Ireland: "He's an all-around good guy who is well respected by his staff, colleagues and business associates."
