NBC has promoted Meredith Ahr to senior vp alternative programming and development. She will oversee alternative development at NBC and Universal Media Studios, including shepherding the network's partnerships in the creative community.

"Meredith is a passionate, laser-focused creative executive," said Paul Telegdy, executive vp alternative programming and development, to whom Ahr will report. "She is the producer's ultimate ally at the network, blending big-picture marketing instincts with a real feel for storytelling. Simply put, she makes shows better."

Ahr joined the network in 2001 and has helped develop "America's Got Talent," "Celebrity Apprentice" and "The Marriage Ref."
