Under his new pact, the longtime specials executive will add oversight of the network's late-night efforts.

Longtime executive Doug Vaughan has inked a new two-year deal with NBC that will see his role with the network expand.

Under his new deal, Vaughn's role as NBC senior vp special programs and late-night will grow to include oversight of the network's late-night programming, including Saturday Night Live, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Last Call With Carson Daly.

“Doug has consistently provided strong and creative executive leadership in shepherding NBC’s specials out of New York,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC president of alternative and late-night programming. “I feel very confident that he will use his unique skills to expand NBC’s legacy in the late-night genre and will continue to do innovative work in our program specials.”

Vaughan, who is based in New York and will report to Telegdy, will continue to be responsible for NBC's specials and alternative series as well as evaluate its reality program pitches and ideas originating from the East Coast.

Since being named senior vp special programs and alternative in 2007, he has overseen specials including A Michael Buble Christmas, the annual Golden Globe Awardsas well as New Year's Eve, Christmas and Thanksgiving specials.

His credits include Inside the Royal Wedding, Children of 9/11 and Madonna: The Confessions Tour Live.
