NCAA gives CBS a shining moment

On Monday night, CBS led the ratings pack with the NCAA title game, ABC debuted the sitcom "Surviving Suburbia," and Fox's "House" lost a major character.

CBS was out in front with live coverage of the men's college basketball championship (17.7 million viewers, 6.3 adults 18-49 rating), won by North Carolina.

Fox came in second with "House" (13.3 million, 5.0) climbing a bit from last week. Viewers were shocked by the suicide of Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn). Fox directed viewers to a realistic-looking online memorial site and an actual National Alliance on Mental Illness hotline. Penn is taking a job in the White House as a public liaison.

ABC came in third behind the premiere of Bob Saget's "Surviving Suburbia" (11.3 million, 3.0), ahead of the "Samantha Who?" average in the time period this season. (partialdiff)
