Nelvana inks Australian, German deals

Canadian cartoon distributor sells programming slate

TORONTO -- Canadian cartoon distributor Nelvana Enterprises has sold a programming slate to Australian broadcaster ABC.

Toronto-based Nelvana said the ABC3 kids' digital and online channel set to launch Dec. 4 picked up Nelvana's "Spliced!" and new episodes of "6teen," "Class of the Titans" and "Jane and the Dragon," a co-production with New Zealand's Weta Productions.

And ABC2 acquired 65 episodes each of "Babar" and "Franklin," while a new computer-generated animated series of "Babar" will air on the main ABC TV network in 2010.

Nelvana Enterprises separately licensed "Jane and The Dragon" and "Pearlie," a co-production with Australian producer Sticky Pictures, to the German kids broadcaster Ki.Ka.
