Neptuno, Character Farm ink 'Katakune' deal

MADRID -- Spanish animation house Neptuno Films and Singapore-based Character Farm have inked an agreement to join forces for the international distribution of 3-D preschool animated series "Katakune," Neptuno said Thursday.

The agreement represents the first deal of its kind between Spain and Singapore, giving Neptuno a footing in the Asian territory.

"Katakune," co-produced by Character Farm and Wogee Toons with a format of 52 11-minute episodes or 260 two-minute episodes, is scheduled to be completed in October.

Neptuno Films holds exclusive distribution rights for the worldwide market, excluding Asia and North America, which will be handled by Six-Six-Eight on behalf of Character Farm. Wogee Toons, which operates exclusively in China, has secured a deal with state broadcaster CCTV. Provincial stations will be attached soon.

"We were looking for an experienced production and distribution company to join forces with and we are thrilled with this new co-venture with Neptuno Films," Character Farm CEO Aldric Chang said.
