Netflix Acquires 'Bobby Kennedy for President' Documentary Series
Dawn Porter's take on the Kennedy legacy in American politics will stream worldwide starting April 27.
Netflix has nabbed a Robert F. Kennedy documentary series from director Dawn Porter (Gideon's Army) and RadicalMedia.
Bobby Kennedy for President will stream worldwide starting April 27, more than 50 years after the younger brother of U.S. President John F. Kennedy declared his own candidacy for the country's highest office on March 16, 1968.
Bobby Kennedy was assassinated not long afterwards while on the campaign trail on June 6, 1968, at the age of 42, after celebrating his victory in the California and South Dakota primary elections for the Democratic nomination for president.
"I am honored that Netflix entrusted me with a story of this scale,” Porter said Friday in a statement.
The four-part documentary series features interviews with Kennedy confidantes and staffers, including Harry Belafonte, Rep. John Lewis, Marian Wright Edelman and Peter Edelman.
Bobby Kennedy for President was executive produced by Laura Michalchyshyn and produced by RadicalMedia, Trilogy Films and LooksFilm. Dave Sirulnick, Justin Wilkes, Jon Kamen, Nestan Behrans, Gunnar Deddio, Ben Cotner, Adam Del Deo and Lisa Nishimura also share exec producer credits.
