MIPCOM: Netflix Nabs Israeli Drama 'When Heroes Fly'
Keshet International's Hebrew-language drama won the top prize at CanneSeries earlier this year.
Netflix has picked up global rights to When Heroes Fly, the Hebrew-language drama from Keshet International.
Keshet launched sales of the Israeli drama earlier this year at MIPTV. The show took the top prize at CanneSeries in April.
The Israeli drama was created by Omri Givon, co-creator of the show Hostages, based on a book by Amir Gutfreund. The drama follows four veterans of an Israeli military commando unit from the 2006 Lebanon war who reunited to rescue the girlfriend of one of the commandos following her abduction by a cartel in the Colombian jungle.
The drama proved to be a hit in Israel when it premiered back in May to record ratings for a scripted series, with nearly half a million viewers.
Keshet is also developing an English-language remake.
