Netflix CEO to give Sundance summit keynote

Initiative supports independent film producers

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings will give the keynote address at the Sundance Institute's Creative Producing Summit, which begins Friday and runs through the weekend.

An initiative designed to support independent film producers, the gathering will also include panelists Michael Barker (Sony Pictures Classics), Arianna Bocco (IFC), Meredith Blake (Cause and Affect), Charlotte Mickie (E1 Entertainment), Josh Radnor (on behalf of SAGIndie), John Sloss (Cinetic) and Graham Taylor (WME).

The Institute's Creative Producing initiatives are designed to nurture independent producers with project-specific support through grants, long-term advisor relationships and labs. Nine projects are currently participating in the Creative Producing Labs and Fellowships this week.

"As with all the artists we support, independent producers are in critical need of resources, mentoring and an environment to brainstorm creatively in order to navigate the changing currents of the film industry," said Sundance Institute executive director Keri Putnam. "We are grateful to the veteran leaders and trailblazers alike who are lending their time and expertise to the next group of talented independent producers."
