Netflix, Disney seal streaming deal

'Grey's Anatomy,' 'Legend of the Seeker' on tap

NEW YORK -- Netflix and Disney-ABC Television Group unveiled a deal Monday that will make several of ABC's TV shows available for viewing via online streaming.

Hit series that are part of the agreement include the first five seasons of “Lost,” and select seasons of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Legend of the Seeker.”

Some of the content, including the first four seasons of “Lost,” had already been made available at the beginning of the month. Additional content will be available in subsequent months beginning in September.

The agreement marks a step forward in Netflix’s efforts to expand its 12,000-title online library, which already includes the Disney series “Hannah Montana,” “Wizards of Waverly Place,” “The Suite Life on Deck,” “Jonas,” and “Sonny with a Chance.”

"We're excited about this new agreement since it builds on a strong foundation with Disney-ABC Television Group," said Robert Kyncl, vp of content acquisition for Netflix. "In all, we're providing Netflix members with some of the most popular and avidly followed shows on TV while working with an important business partner to help grow several of its key franchises."

Netflix has more than 10 million subscribers and more than 100,000 DVDs available for rental.
