'Sharing the Wisdom of Time' features stories from elders from more than 30 countries sharing their experiences and wisdom with the younger generation.

Netflix has ordered an original documentary series based on Sharing the Wisdom of Time, the award-winning book written by Pope Francis, in which elders from around the world share their stories with a younger generation.

The four-part Netflix series will feature women and men, all over the age of 70, from all around the world traveling with and telling their stories to young filmmakers under the age of 30 from the same country.

The docu-series will also feature an exclusive interview with Pope Francis, whose comments will form a common thread throughout the series' episodes.

The Pope's book, edited by Father Antonio Spadaro, was first published to widespread acclaim by Loyola Press in the United States in 2018.

Italian director Simona Ercolani will direct and produce the series through her Stand By Me production shingle, a partner of Asacha Media Group.

Netflix had great critical success with its 2019 film The Two Popes. Directed by Fernando Meirelles, the film, inspired by real events, starred Anthony Hopkins as conservative Pope Benedict XVI and Jonathan Pryce as the liberal future Pope Francis and was nominated for three Oscars.

Netflix will roll out the new documentary series globally in 2021.
