Nets split Sun. primetime victories


NEW YORK -- CBS won Sunday's primetime in viewership and Fox won in adults 18-49 in a night without an original "Desperate Housewives."

"Without a Trace" was the night's top show in viewership; ABC's "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" was the night's highest-rated show in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates released Monday by Nielsen Media Research.

"Without a Trace" (17.2 million viewers, 4.3 rating/11 share in adults 18-49) trounced NBC's "Apprentice: Los Angeles" (7.6 million, 2.9/8) and a repeat of ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" (5.5 million, 1.8/5).

The CBS crime drama was ahead of its "Cold Case" lead-in (15.3 million, 4.1/10), which won the 9 p.m. hour in both demos facing a repeat "Desperate Housewives" (7.9 million, 2.8/7). NBC's "Deal or No Deal" (12.7 million, 3.7/9) was up in adults 18-49 from week-to-week .

The 8 p.m. hour went to "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" (13.7 million, 4.8/13). "The Amazing Race" (10 million, 3.3/9) was well ahead of NBC's "Grease: You're The One That I Want" (6.4 million, 1.8/5), which was down 28% from its season average of 2.5/6.

Runover from Fox's NASCAR coverage won the 7 p.m. hour with 11 million viewers and a 4.3/4 in the demo; Fox's programming started at 8:06 p.m. with "The Simpsons" (9 million, 4.2/12) running until 8:36 p.m. and leading into "The Winner." The new sitcom starring former "The Daily Show" correspondent Rob Corrdry averaged 6.8 million viewers and a 3.4/9 in the demo although that was likely to be revised when final Nielsen numbers emerge Tuesday. "Family Guy" averaged 7.9 million viewers and a 4.1/10 and a second edition of "The Winner" averaged 5.6 million viewers and a 2.9/7.

Nightly averages: ABC (8.7 million, 2.9/8); CBS (13.1 million, 3.4.9); NBC (8.1 million, 2.4/7); Fox (8.6 million, 3.9/11); and The CW (1.8 million, 0.7/2).
