Five weeks into the season, THR takes a look at which freshman fare have ad buyers drooling.

With most of the new fall offerings already launched, the landscape is being set for the youngest and oldest-skewing rookie shows.

The biggest surprise may be Fox's Zooey Deschanel comedy, New Girl, which had a lower median age -- 33.8 -- than the CW's three dramas: The Secret Circle, Ringer and Hart of Dixie. It was outdone by the network's canceled reality series, H8R, whose average viewer was 31 years old.

Notably, Ringer is not the oldest-skewing new show for the CW, which continues its effort to broadne its viewership. Instead, that honor goes to the Rachel Bilson's Hart of Dixie, which recently hit a high in total viewers. The semi-procedural drama clocked in at nearly 40 years old.

Worth noting: Fox has yet to roll out its new animated effort Allen Gregory, part of a genre that consistently keeps the network young. Last season, five of the network's animated shows -- The Cleveland Show, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, American Dad and The Simpsons -- took up half the slots for the 10 youngest series.

While CBS' widely-viewed 2 Broke Girls sneaks onto the list with a median age of 47, the net's three rookie dramas Person of Interest, Unforgettable and A Gifted Man are among the four oldest new shows thus far this season. The median age for A Gifted Man viewer was 61.2, easily making it the oldest-skewing freshman series.

With the help of Brad Adgate, senior vice president of research at Horizon Media, The Hollywood Reporter looks at the 10 youngest-skewing freshman shows (excluding sports and reruns) for the season thus far -- from Sept. 19 through Oct. 23.
