'New Worlds' Miniseries Sells Across Europe, Australia
The Channel 4 period drama, set in the late 1700s, features 'Fifty Shades of Grey' star Jamie Dornan
New Worlds, a period mini-series from Britain's Channel 4, has found success on foreign shores.
London-based Power, which co-produced New Worlds and is selling the 4 part series internationally, has closed deals with multiple territories, including with Australia's SBS, DR TV in Denmark, Sky Television in New Zealand and Chello Central Europe for Hungary.
Power also inked licensing deals with Canada's Super Channel and RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn brands have picked up North American home entertainment rights for the series. Other agreements include ones with IPA for Thailand and a pan-African deal with pay-TV group MNET.
Fifty Shades of Grey and The Fall actor Jamie Dornan stars in New Worlds alongside Freya Mavor (Sunshine on Leith), Beautiful Creatures actress Alice Englert, and Joe Dempsie of Game of Thrones fame.
Created and written by Peter Flannery and Martine Brandt (The Devils Whore), New Worlds is set in the 1680s in the aftermath of the bloody English Civil War after King Charles II has been restored to the throne. But his tyrannical rule sparks decent both at home and in England's far-off American colonies.
