At Brandon Maxwell, the Return of a Bold Beauty Look

Never mind natural, go big or go home.

Forget the no makeup-makeup look. It was all about dark, smoky metallic eyes for Brandon Maxwell's fall runway show, held on the 71st floor of Four World Trade Center on Tuesday.

Taking inspiration from the designer's Texas-inspired, bigger-is-better glam slam on the runway, legendary French makeup artist Tom Pecheux took the opportunity to create a bold beauty look for the bevy of confident babes — Joan Smalls, Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill, Adwoa Aboah, Alanna Arrington, Dilone and more — who walked the runway.

The eye makeup was a reflection of Maxwell "moving forward in terms of colors and textures," said Pecheux.

The beauty guru first applied the MAC Kohl Power Eye Pencil in Feline (a rich black hue), blending the liner from the upper lash line to the crease.

Then, he set the eyes with MAC Eye Shadow in Carbon (intense black) before applying one of six MAC pigments to the center of the lid: platinum, copper sparkle, naval blue, fuchsia, violet or emerald green. As far as matching a certain color to a model, Pecheux noted, "The best way to do it is to ask the girl what she likes to wear. It's so much better when the girl feels good."

Pecheux finished off the eyes with a coat of MAC Haute and Naughty Mascara on the top lashes, while brows were filled in naturally.

To complement the darker peepers, Pecheux used MAC Studio Waterweight and MAC Studio Finish Concealer to make the skin look "natural and perfected." The lips were daubed with soft colors from the MAC Trend Forecast Fall 2017 palette.

The overall look was finished off with blown-out hair and extensions by James Pecis and a raspberry mani by Deborah Lippmann.
