Massive rollout set for 'Camp Rock'

The Disney-ABC Television Group has big plans for the premiere of the Disney Channel original movie "Camp Rock," a song-and-dance-filled telefilm starring the Jonas Brothers. The movie will premiere on Disney Channel, ABC (as part of the Wonderful World of Disney franchise), ABC Family, Radio Disney and in Disney XD from June 20-23 in the U.S. It also will premiere on Family Channel Canada and on Quebec's VRAK.TV (dubbed in French) on June 20 and on Disney Channels around the world beginning in August. Meanwhile, the "Camp Rock" soundtrack will be released June 17 from Walt Disney Records, and the DVD, with exclusive bonus features, will release around the world beginning Aug. 19 from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

TNT gives 'Advertising' the green light

TNT has picked up the drama pilot "Truth in Advertising" to series. The cable network has ordered 13 episodes of the project starring Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh and executive produced by "The Closer's" Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin. The Warner Horizon Television-produced "Truth" premieres in 2009.

Lonelygirl15 returns to Internet

Jessica Rose, the actress who helped turn "lonelygirl15" into an Internet sensation, is returning to the medium that made her famous. 60Frames Entertainment has enlisted her to star in the online series "Blood Cell," a thriller written and directed by Eduardo Rodriguez. No word yet on when or who will distribute "Blood" online, but a trailer for the 18-episode series is available at

Dutch pol shelves anti-Muslim film

AMSTERDAM — Dutch politician Ehsan Jami has canceled the release of his anti-Muslim film "The Life of Mohammed" after heated objections from the Dutch government. It was scheduled to open April 20. Jami, the founder of a committee for former Muslims in the Netherlands, said on Dutch national television that he and his family had received death threats from abroad, particularly from Iran.

Sakson a Participant in PR

Jeffrey Sakson has joined Participant Media as vp publicity, reporting to executive vps marketing Buffy Shutt and Kathy Jones. Sakson will oversee publicity efforts for all Participant film releases and social-action campaigns related to its films as well as corporate communications. Sakson worked with Shutt and Jones at Universal, where he worked for 22 years, rising to senior vp publicity.

Bold move for Denton

Stephanie Denton has been named president of worldwide distribution at Bold Films, which is headed by co-presidents Gary Michael Walters and David Lancaster. Denton will oversee domestic and foreign sales, marketing, business affairs, delivery and collections. She most recently served as president of international at Lionsgate.
