L.A. critics to fete Lumet

The Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. will honor Sidney Lumet with its annual Career Achievement Award. The helmer received the organization's first two directing awards for "Dog Day Afternoon" in 1975 and "Network" in 1976. Lumet's 50-year-plus career is experiencing a renaissance with his upcoming ThinkFilm release "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead." The honor will be presented Jan. 12 at the InterContinental Los Angeles in Century City.

Hartnett upped to senior vp at NBC Agency

Bill Hartnett has been upped to senior vp advertising and promotion at the NBC Agency, East Coast. Hartnett has been with NBC for 12 years, serving as vp since 2003. In his new role, Hartnett will add the responsibility of managing the integration and daily operation of the MSNBC creative services team into the existing structure of the NBC Agency, East Coast. He also will oversee the agency's East Coast digital promotion team across all platforms and help spearhead the brand strategy for NBC News. He reports to executive vp Frank Radice.

MTVN bows MyNoggin with game focus

NEW YORK — MTV Networks' Nickelodeon on Monday launched myNoggin, a premium Web service for preschoolers and their parents. The service features casual games with an educational focus for kids ages 3-6 and showcases characters from Nickelodeon shows. It will not have any ads but instead be supported by subscriptions, which will range from $5.95-$9.95 per month.

Reveille rides Primary Wave for marketing

Reveille has inked a two-year marketing and administration agreement with Primary Wave Music Publishing. Primary Wave will oversee the music-publishing rights for television programs produced by Ben Silverman's independent production company, including "The Office" and "Ugly Betty." In addition to marketing and administration services, Primary Wave will offer music consulting services for Reveille's television programming, which is distributed to more than 100 countries worldwide. Their first joint effort will launch simultaneously with the NBC primetime series "American Gladiators," which is being produced by Reveille and airs in 2008.

Biscuiti climbs ranks at Lippin Group

Matt Biscuiti has been upped to senior vp at the Lippin Group. He joined the PR consulting firm in 2004 and is based in the New York office, where he is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications campaigns for the company's digital entertainment/new media, TV programming/production and advertising/marketing clients as well as industry associations and events. "Matt has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to successfully manage campaigns and to interact with people both externally and internally in the most effective ways possible," chairman and CEO Dick Lippin said.

G4 to air Boost gaming event

NEW YORK — Comcast's G4 network said Monday that it has secured the exclusive TV rights to the 2007 Boost Mobile MLG Pro Circuit, a Major League Gaming competition. The hourlong broadcasts will start Nov. 16 at 11 p.m. EST and will air every Friday. The shows will feature the competitions as well as behind-the-scenes features about the gamers.
