Newton playing NBA All-Star Game

LAS VEGAS -- Crooner Wayne Newton will belt out classic Vegas hits as players are introduced at the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 18, the league announced.

"Mr. Las Vegas" will perform for about seven minutes, likely singing "Viva Las Vegas" and a contemporary version of "Danke Schoen," before the game while Grammy winners Christina Aguilera and Toni Braxton will headline the halftime entertainment. The game is to be broadcast live at 8 p.m. EST Sunday.

Mary J. Blige will also perform during a Saturday night event for the league's social initiative, NBA Cares.
