'The Nice Guys' Trailer: Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe Play a Mismatched Detective Duo

The comedic thriller is set to hit theaters on May 20.

Ryan Gosling receives an unexpected beating by Russell Crowe in the opening of the new red-band trailer for The Nice Guys

Directed by Shane Black (Iron Man 3) the comedic thriller, set in the '70s, follows a private investigator and single father (Gosling) and a hired leg-breaker (Crowe) who work together to track down a missing girl and solve the case of a porn star's death. The mismatched duo get into more than expected along the way and Gosling's character is even shown bringing his daughter along on some of their sleazy adventures. 

Kim Basinger, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley and Ty Simpkins also star in the film written by Black and Anthony Bagarozzi and produced by Joel Silver (who collaborated with Black on Lethal Weapon and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang).

The Nice Guys hits theaters on May 20, 2016.
