Nick Frost Joins 'Doctor Who' Christmas Special

Simon Pegg's frequent collaborator is part of a trio of special guests appearing in the festive episode

The BBC has lined up three guest stars for its upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special.

In a tweet sent Friday from its official Time Lord account, the U.K. public broadcaster posted a photo showing that actors Nick Frost, Nathan McMullen and Michael Troughton would be joining Peter Capaldi on the sci-fi show.

Longtime Simon Pegg collaborator Frost has made a name for himself as one of the U.K.’s best-known comedy actors, recently providing his voice for The Boxtrolls.

McMullen is known for his appearance on Channel 4 teen drama Misfits, while Troughton is a regular on U.K. TV and the son of Patrick Troughton, who famously played the second incarnation of Doctor Who in the 1960s.

Earlier this week, the BBC revealed that Doctor Who would be suffering the perhaps ignoble humiliation of having to make way for the new season of reality show Strictly Come Dancing in the Saturday night ratings wars. The show's new time of 8.30 p.m. will see it face off against Simon Cowell and X Factor on ITV.
