Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Are Married
The groom's father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., officiated Saturday's Christian ceremony, where the couple exchanged Chopard wedding bands. The newlyweds will also have a traditional Hindu ceremony on Sunday.
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra have tied the knot.
On Saturday, the 26-year-old singer and actor married the former Quantico star, 36, in a Christian ceremony at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, according to People.
Per the report, the groom's father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr., officiated Saturday's ceremony, where the couple exchanged Chopard wedding bands. The bride and groom, both wedding parties and their families reportedly all wore Ralph Lauren during the festivities.
The newlyweds also held a traditional Hindu ceremony on Sunday. The report comes after the couple spent the last several days celebrating in the country with family and friends.
During their mehendi celebration earlier in the week, the couple wore Indian designer Khosla Jani. According to the designer, Chopra wore a 48-multipanelled organdy sherwani embellished in silk detailing, while Jonas wore a pale pistachio green/aqua Banarasi cotton Bakhiya kurta embellished in fine threadwork embroidery in various stitches. The couple both shared pictures of that event on social media Saturday.
One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other’s faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing. An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed.
It all began as a fierce song & dance competition between the families but ended, as always, as a huge celebration of love. Nick and I were looking forward to the Sangeet (musical evening), another pre wedding ritual.. and to see what each side had put together. And what a performance it was. Each family telling our stories through song and dance, filled with lots of laughter and love. We were both filled with gratitude for the effort, the love and the laughter and will carry the memories of this special evening for the rest of our lives. It is an amazing start to a lifetime of togetherness for our families and friends...#grateful @nickjonas /: @calebjordanlee @josevilla @josephradhik
Also on Saturday, Jonas and Chopra appeared on Vogue's first-ever digital cover to mark their big day. In the cover story, Chopra said that their nuptials were "an incredible coming-together of two really ancient cultures and religions."
The couple began dating in May and became engaged after two months when the "Levels" singer popped the question to Chopra in London on her 36th birthday in July.
Ahead of her wedding to Jonas, Chopra unveiled her wedding registry guide on Amazon, which featured cookware and houseware, as well as travel, fitness and hosting items.
Chopra also revealed a donation the e-retailer made to UNICEF, saying, “I’m very excited to begin this new chapter in my life and I’ve selected some of my favorite items to inspire you during yours. I am also so happy that Amazon is making a $100,000 donation to UNICEF, an organization that I hold close to my heart!”
The groom began his career as a singer with the Jonas Brothers band along with older siblings Kevin and Joe. The former Disney Channel star appeared in the Camp Rock musical, which also starred friend Demi Lovato, and in 2014 broke out as a solo star with his hit record Jealous.
Chopra held the title of Miss World in 2000, which launched her career as one of the highest-paid Bollywood actresses, and she has made over 50 films for her home country of India, according to the BBC.
The Bollywood star will next appear alongside Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth in the romantic comedy Isn’t It Romantic, which is set to open next year on Valentine’s Day.
Meanwhile, the Golden Globe-nominated Jonas is slated to appear in three films in 2019: Chaos Walking, UglyDolls and Midway.
This is the first marriage for both stars.
