Nick Kroll, Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale are attached to star in Brother's Keeper, an indie dramedy being executive produced by brothers Mark and Jay Duplass.

Ross Katz, an Oscar-nominated producer for In the Bedroom and Lost in Translation, is directing the film, which is due to begin shooting in January in New York.

Keeper is about a young, narcissistic entrepreneur who crashes and burns on the eve of his company's launch. He leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged, pregnant sister and his brother-in-law (to be played by real-life item Byrne and Cannavale) and his 3-year-old nephew, only to end up becoming their nanny.

The script was written by Jeff Cox and Liz Flahive, based on a story by Kroll, Cox and Flahive.

Kroll is also one of the producers on the film, along with Sam Slater and Paul Bernon of Burn Later Productions (the indie comedy Drinking Buddies, which starred Olivia Wilde), Marcus Cox and Karrie Cox of Through Films, and Jared Goldman, an exec producer on the Daniel Radcliffe-starring Kill Your Darlings.

The Duplass brothers are movers in the indie scene, having written and directed Jeff, Who Lives at Home and exec produced a slew of quirky movies such as Safety Not Guaranteed and Bad Milo.

Katz, repped by CAA and Management 360, previously directed Taking Chance, the HBO feature drama that starred Kevin Bacon.

Kroll, repped by WME and Mosaic, is the star of The Kroll Show on Comedy Central and FX's The League, for which he has also written. (Mark Duplass is also one of the latter show's stars).

Byrne, who starred in TV's Damages, has proven she can star in comedies and dramas -- and even horror movies. She was last seen in Insidious: Chapter 2 and has Neighbors, with Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, awaiting a May 9, 2014, release. She is repped by CAA and RGM Artist Group.

Cannavale (ICM Partners, Framework Entertainment, Schreck Rose) won a best supporting actor Emmy for his work on HBO's Boardwalk Empire and is currently shooting the Annie remake.
