Nick toons set for YTV Sundays

Programming block will begin airing soon

TORONTO -- Nickelodeon may be denied access to the Canadian airwaves, but the U.S. channel will receive its own Sunday morning block of programming on YTV, Canada's cable kids channel, beginning in September.

Corus Entertainment, which owns and operates YTV, said Tuesday that the three-hour Nickelodeon-branded block will feature back-to-back airings of "The Fairly OddParents," "Back at the Barnyard," "SpongeBob SquarePants," "The Mighty B," "iCarly" and "The Naked Brothers Band."

Canada's TV regulator has blocked Nickelodeon from entry into the Canadian market on grounds that it competes with existing Canadian TV channels like YTV.

Corus has an agreement with MTV Networks International that gives it all Canadian rights to Nickelodeon content across a range of platforms, including broadcast and broadband.
