Nigel Lythgoe elected BAFTA/LA chairman

Organization also chooses new officers, board for 2010

Producer-director Nigel Lythgoe has been elected chairman of the British Academy of Film and Televison Arts/Los Angeles for a one-year term. Other officers are Brian Walton, deputy chair; Rebecca Segal, secretary; and Paul Steinke, treasurer.

BAFTA/LA also announced its new board of directors for 2010. Re-elected board members beginning a new two-year term are Norma Acland, Clare Baren, Katherine Haber, Lythgoe, Segal, Julia Verdin and Walton. Newly elected board members beginning their first two-year term are Melanie Greene, John Simon and Neil Stiles. Board members beginning their second year of two-year terms are Paul Heller, Gabrielle Kelly, Maxine Leonard, Belinda Menendez, Tony Porter, Steinke, David Simon and Pam Wilson.

Donald Haber remains Executive Director and COO.

"It is an absolute honor to have been chosen as chairman," Lythgoe said. "BAFTA/LA has grown tremendously in size and stature in recent years, and I will continue building on its remarkable success to promote and advance original work within the Hollywood and British entertainment communities."
