No summer vacation for Leno

Promos to air in the 10 p.m. slot to prepare for new show

If you think NBC is taking a break from Jay Leno this summer, look again.

The network is airing promos with the talk-show host at 10 p.m. weeknights in preparation for the fall launch of "The Jay Leno Show."

The idea is to get viewers accustomed to the former "Tonight Show" host occupying the slot as part of the network's ongoing marketing campaign for turning over the hour to "Leno" beginning Sept. 14

"Jay never left our air," said John Miller, chief marketing officer at NBC Universal Television Group and president of the NBC Agency. "We began running promos at 10 p.m. since the day after Jay's finale."

The network also is shooting new Leno promo material to air in the slot during the summer.
