Noms unveiled for Venice's Guccis

ROME -- Julian Schnabel and Piotr Uklanski, helmer of the Polish Western "Summer Love," are among the nominees for the second annual Gucci Award at the Venice Film Festival, Gucci officials said Tuesday.

Other nominees include Indian journalist Bhavna Talwar, whose film "Dharm" explores religious fanaticism; Anton Corbin, who explored the life of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis in "Control"; and Korean novelist Lee Chang-Dong, whose romantic comedy "Secret Sunshine" earned a Palme d'Or nomination at Cannes.

The winner will be named Sept. 3 at the historic Palazzo Grassi in Venice.

The first Gucci Award at Venice went to Australian rock icon Nick Cave for his work on the soundtrack of the Aussie cowboy film "The Proposition."
