"I could not be happier, more content, more excited about the return of my America," says the iconic television producer.

Norman Lear on Saturday morning said in all his 98 years, he never had a "more joyous" morning than when he learned Joe Biden had defeated Donald Trump to become the next president-elect of the United States.

The iconic television show creator and producer said in a video posted to social media, "I could not be happier, more content, more excited about the return of my America. I feel it had been lost in recent years."

The 2020 election was called in the early morning hours by numerous media outlets after a batch of votes from Pennsylvania propelled Biden to a win. Hollywood stars shared their jubilation via social media.

Lear, who created and produced the legendary show All in the Family (among several others) is also a United States Army Air Forces veteran. "I flew 52 missions in World War II with the same kind of love I am experiencing in this moment; with the joy of knowing we have a solid president for the next four years and a return to sanity. God bless America.

Lear has long been a political activist and an outspoken critic of Donald Trump.
