'Nutcracker and the Four Realms' Trailer Teases Mysterious, Magical World
Determined to track down a special key, Mackenzie Foy’s Clara embarks on an adventure, of which Morgan Freeman teases, “Who knows what might happen?”
The legend you know has a dark side teases the official trailer for Disney’s upcoming adaptation, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.
In the film, Clara (Mackenzie Foy) is determined to locate a key that will give her access to unlock a gift from her late mother. When she falls upon a golden thread at a holiday spectacle, Clara immediately follows the path that leads her into a mysterious and magical parallel world that she never knew of.
“It’s Christmas Eve. The time of mystery, expectations. Who knows what might happen,” Clara’s godfather Drosselmeyer (Morgan Freeman) is overheard telling her, as she ventures into the world that promises both enchantment and danger.
Clara soon meets a gingerbread soldier named Phillip (Hayden Fowora-Knight), an army of mice and the viceroys of the three Realms: Land of Flowers, Land of Snowflakes and Land of Sweets, where Keira Knightley acts as the Sugar Plum Fairy. Helen Mirren also joins the film as the regent for the Fourth Tyrant, where Clara must go in order to retrieve the coveted key.
Misty Copeland will also star in the film. Inspired by E.T.A. Hoffman’s renowned classic story, the holiday film is directed by Lasse Hallstrom. Mark Gordon and Larry Franco are producing, while Sara Smith and Lindy Goldstein are executive producing.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is set to hit theaters Nov. 2, 2018.
