N.Y. Film Critics Circle plans big celebration

75th-anniversary event to feature a series of screenings

The New York Film Critics Circle will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a Critics Choice program, running March 30-April 3 as a special event at the New Directors/New Films series, jointly presented by the Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

The program, a series of matinee screenings at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center, is drawn from films that that won the NYFCC's best new director prize. Each will be introduced by an NYFCC member.

The lineup consists of "Big Night," introduced by Marshall Fine of the Star; "Frozen River," Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly; "Metropolitan," Armond White, New York Press; "In the Company of Men," Peter Travers, Rolling Stone; and "Half Nelson," David Fear, Time Out-New York.
