NYFW Beauty: Get Honor's Experimental Blue Cat Eye

Makeup artist Polly Osmond teaches us how to give someone the stink eye in a totally awesome new way

The inspiration for the exaggerated, electric blue cat eye seen on models at Honor’s show on Wednesday? “Transformation,” says makeup artist Polly Osmond, who used Kevyn Aucoin Cosmetics for Beauty.com to create the look. Specifically, the transformation of a fictional uptown girl in the 1960s who meets a George Harrison character in the Bowery and is shown how to live. “She starts experimenting with makeup, being a little naughty,” says the makeup artist.

Osmond chose the eye-popping shade for the eyes because it stands out so well and picks up on a range of blues that appear throughout Honor’s spring/summer collection, and the shape because it’s “a little bit punky.” She first created the cat eye using Kevyn Aucoin The Eye Pencil Primatif in Defining Navy, then coated it with The Loose Shimmer Shadow in Lapis. Also key to the look: a curl of the lashes and coats of Kevyn Aucoin The Essential Mascara on both top and bottom.

As for the rest of the face, “the skin is natural because she hasn’t really got time to do it,” says Osmond — a trend we're spotting on more than one catwalk.
