The L.A. designer's Friday presentation was filled with multi-colored lace skirts, dresses and tops.

While colored lace has been a heavy trend for at least two seasons now, don’t even think about packing those pieces up yet.

L.A. designer Gregory Parkinson's Friday (Sept. 6) presentation was filled with colored lace as only this eclectic designer does it: Many of the fabrics were double or triple dyed (in mixes of lavender, yellow, red, pink, orange), so that the multi-colored lace skirts, dresses and tops appeared dense with varied color, like an Impressionist painting. Parkinson paired them with striped shrunken cardi's – yes, the shrunken cardi is back! And perfect for L.A. layering. Pack up the jackets!

Another trend alert: interesting -- and even -- complicated -- flats. Parkinson has always shown his colorful clothes with sky high Manolo's -- but for spring, 2014, he used partially clear Louboutin d'orsay pointy flats -- with metallic or white cap toes -- and colorful backs. Fall brought us the studded and pyramid-ed flat -- spring seems like it will bring us a flat that's back to a flat surface -- with a mixed up combo of clear and color and metallic.

Why should heels have all the fun? Multi-colorful clothes deserve multi-colorful shoes.
