NZ's '06 TV ad revenue down 4%

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- New Zealand's television networks earned NZ$640.7 million ($435.7 million) from advertising revenue in 2006, nearly 4% less than for the previous year. The NZ Television Broadcasters Council said ad revenue was down by NZ$25.8 million ($17.9 million) for the 12 months ending Dec. 31 because of a slowing economy, but reported a bounceback in the fourth quarter, which was up 1.36%, or NZ$2.6 million ($1.67 million), over the same period in 2005.
