O'Brien gets his sidekick back

Conan O'Brien is getting help from an old friend when he takes his new job.

Andy Richter will join "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" as the show's announcer, NBC said Tuesday. It will be the first time the two have worked together on a daily basis since Richter left "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" nine years ago.

O'Brien's "Tonight Show" begins June 1 from a new studio; the host left his "Late Night" perch last week to get ready.

Richter also will appear in comedic pieces.

Richter has been an actor and writer since 2000, with roles on TV series and in films. (partialdiff)
