Oliver Stone to head Tisch Asia school

NYU campus in Singapore welcomes Oscar winner

SINGAPORE -- Oliver Stone has been named to the new post of artistic director of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia, whose campus is based in Singapore, the school said Tuesday.

Stone, a Tisch alumnus, will teach courses and conduct workshops on the Asian campus that opened in September 2007 and offers the same curriculum as it does in New York.

Eric Khoo, Singaporean filmmaker and member of Tisch Asia's board of directors, said the school's decision to hire Stone illustrates the quality of education Tisch believes in providing.

Stone’s latest project is "W.," a biopic about President Bush starring Josh Brolin and Thandie Newton. It is expected to be released this year.
