Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Niall Horan took to social media hours after the news broke.

Following Wednesday's announcement that Zayn Malik is no longer a member of One Direction, the remaining members of the boy band took to Twitter early Thursday to reflect on the shocking news and give thanks to their longtime fans.

The group's Louis Tomlinson promised their "best album" is yet to come.

A few hours earlier, Liam Payne posted that he was just happy the day was over.

Harry Styles fired off five-and-a-half words, to the tune of 400,000 retweets.

Niall Horan thanked fans for their support and promised the lineup change would only spur them to make better music.

Malik has not commented yet, with his Twitter handle continuing to read: zaynmalik1D.

"After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave One Direction," a note the band posted on Facebook read on Wednesday. "Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year."
