One million added TV homes this season

Nielsen estimate: 115.9 mil U.S. TV households

Media measurement firm Nielsen said Friday that for the 2010-2011 broadcast season, the total number of U.S. TV households will climb 1 million to 115.9 million.

The company also estimates that the number of persons age two and older ill hit 294.65 million in the new TV season. That would be an increase of more than two million.

Last fall season, the TV home universe expanded by a half million, according to Nielsen data. The firm has seen a continuing expansion from 102.2 million TV households recorded for he 2000-2001 season.
