Optimum feels the burn

LONDON -- British-based indie distributor Optimum Releasing, owned by France's StudioCanal, has ignited a deal for U.K. rights to "Incendiary," written and directed by Sharon Maguire.

The movie, which stars Michelle Williams, Ewan McGregor and Matthew Macfadyen, details the story of an adulterous woman whose life is torn apart when her husband and infant son are killed in a suicide bombing at a soccer match.

The film, backed by FilmFour, the filmmaking arm of broadcaster Channel 4, is currently shooting on location in London, with Optimum striking the deal with production company Archer Street Films.

Optimum also has snared U.K. rights to Julian Gilbey's "Rise of the Footsoldier" for the U.K. from Carnaby International.

Written and directed by Gilbey, "Footsoldier" stars Ricci Harnett, Roland Manookian and Frank Harper and follows the rise of football hoodlum Carlton Leach to lead a notorious gang of criminals in London.
