Optimum takes 'Comedown' for U.K. release

London-set urban horror flick by Menhaj Huda

LONDON -- Menhaj Huda's London-set urban horror flick "Comedown" has been picked up for U.K. distribution by Studio Canal-owned Brit indie Optimum Releasing.

The deal was sealed by London-based sales house AV Pictures, which repped the title during this year's recent American Film Market.

Huda will direct from a screenplay by Steven Kendall, which is set against a London backdrop of abandonment and decay.

It details the story of six youths setting up a relay aerial for a local pirate radio station at the top of a condemned tower block who are targeted by a resident psychopath intent on exterminating the vermin he perceives are besieging his home.

Cast includes Martin Compston, Red Madrell and Adam Deacon. The kids' nemesis will be played by Geoff Bell.

Due to shoot here in March 2010, the project is produced by Dominic Norris ("Guilty Hearts") for Serotonin Films and Gareth Wiley ("Vicky Cristina Barcelona") for Phoenix Wiley.
