Orengo takes over Asia at SPT

Will move to HK to take up new regional responsibility

HONG KONG -- Angel Orengo will take over as senior vice president and head of distribution in Asia Pacific for Sony Pictures Television, replacing Ross Pollack.

Orengo will relocate to Hong Kong from Miami, where he has been SPT's senior vice president of distribution for Latin America and Caribbean. His new region covers Asia, Australia and New Zealand and includes licensing executives in Hong Kong, Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai and Sydney.

Earlier this year SPT erased the division between its domestic U.S. operations and SPT International. Orengo reports to Keith Le Goy, SPT’s president, international distribution.

Pollack is leaving the company to head Hong Kong-based film and TV group Celestial Pictures.

Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks has recently obtained carriage on LG Dacom’s my LGtv and SK Broadband’s broad&tv for its AXN. That means the channel is now presented on all three South Korean IPTV platforms, having launched on Korea Telecom's Qook TV in November last year.

"I am proud [that AXN is] the first international general entertainment channel to secure placement on all the IPTV platforms in Korea," Ricky Ow, senior vice president and general manager, SPE Networks – Asia, said.
