Original 'Deal' puts NBC at top on Christmas


NBC won Christmas night with a two-hour "Deal or No Deal" that was with the exception of "48 Hours Mystery" the only originals on broadcast TV.

"Deal or No Deal" averaged 9.8 million viewers and a 2.6 rating/8 share in adults 18-49, according to preliminary estimates released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research. "Deal" peaked at 9:30 p.m . with 11.7 million viewers, the most viewers of any show for the night.

The only other original, "48 Hours Mystery," came in third place at 10 p.m. with 4.2 million viewers and a 1.2/4 in the demo. It was beaten by the third hour of ABC's "Pirates of the Caribbean" (5.5 million, 2.0/6) and a repeat of "Law & Order: SVU" (7.6 million, 2.1/6).

NBC (9 million, 2.4/8) won in viewership and the adults 18-49 demo against ABC (5.5 million, 2.0/6); CBS (5.4 million, 1.2/4); Fox ( 5.7 million, 1.9/6); and the CW (919,000, 0.4/1).
