"If my tweets are so upsetting to you please do not read them," the actor tells a Twitter follower.

Orlando Jones must not have gotten the memo about maintaining a civil tone with political rhetoric. You know, the one issued when Sarah Palin said words like “reload” and “target” while campaigning for congressional candidates a year ago.

The actor-comedian tweeted over the weekend: “Libyan Rebels kill Gaddafi, if American liberals want respect they better stop listening to Aretha & kill Sarah Palin.”

The tweet didn’t get much notice beyond a few followers who responded, though a few conservatives began to blog about it on Monday.

“Can we enjoy his role as Steve the Magazine Salesman in Office Space ever again?" a blogger at Big Hollywood asks.

A good question, considering a recent THR poll indicated that 35 percent of Republicans will routinely take an actors’ political outbursts into account before spending money to see one of their films.

One of the actor’s Twitter followers tweeted back to Jones: “You are obviously a big fat moron. How about someone talked about killing your mother or sister. Is that Funny-ha, ha?”

That tweet elicited a few responses from Jones: "Yay! Name calling. I’m a moron that’s working on the big and fat part. Maybe you could buy me food & complete the trifecta.”

And: “Honestly making a joke about killing my mother could be very funny. Depends on the joke.”

Another conversation went back and forth before Jones tweeted: “Actually, I don’t think it’s just a joke is an apropo response. If my tweets are so upsetting to you please do not read them.”
