'Osbournes' bows to so-so ratings

Fox's neo-variety show "Osbournes: Reloaded" premiered Tuesday as the night's third- highest-rated program despite some stations refusing to air the telecast.

The "Osbournes" premiere (8.4 million viewers, 3.7 adults 18-49 rating) ran after an expanded "American Idol" (24.4 million, 8.9) but was reduced by the network from an hour to 35 minutes. About 16 stations reportedly pre-empted the show and, according to Fox, about 11% of the country could not watch the program during primetime (some stations opted to air it in late-night).

Fox won the night, followed by NBC. (partialdiff)
